A marketing strategy and marketing tools are essential for every business. But did you know you can get many of the tools you need to execute and automate your efforts for free?

A lot of the tools you’ll need come free as standard when you’re just starting out or only 1 person is using them. This is handy if you’re a start-up, small business or freelancer.

We’ve put together a list of our 7 favorite marketing tools that you can start using for free!

  1. HotJar (understanding your website visitors)

If you want to further understand how your visitors are actually using your website, what they are clicking and how far they scroll, then we suggest using HotJar. The tool can help you figure out how best to optimize your website and the funnels that direct people to your website.

If you’re selling a product or service, HotJar can help you understand which of your offers are the most popular. If you have a blog, you’ll be able to better understand which blogs your readers find the most interesting and where your visitors are spending the most time reading.

  1. WordPress (website and landing pages)

A landing page is separate from your actual website, although your website might have links directing visitors to a landing page. You may choose to create a landing page for a lead magnet, an event, or a limited-time discount or offer.

While WordPress can be slightly more complex to use than other website-building tools like Squarespace or Wix, this is because it allows you more flexibility in terms of design and features.

Google Analytics does pretty much everything you need to understand traffic to your website. Plus, it’s completely free. Discover what your audience really wants to hear about or their opinion on a particular subject with SurveyMonkey. Put together your questions and then share your survey with your audience. While the free version only lets you create a limited number of surveys per month, if you’re just starting out, this is a great free tool.

  1. Google my business (increase your Google appearances)

This is a highly underrated tool that many online business owners don’t take advantage of. Google my business can be utilized by anyone, even if you’re a fully online-operated business. Not only is it completely free but it increases your reputability with potential clients when they’re trying to find out more about you online.

  1. Unsplash (free stock images)

Unsplash is probably one of the most famous free stock image websites on the internet. Because photos are uploaded by photographers and creators, the photos are much more dynamic and creative than your standard “stock-free photos”. Plus you don’t need to give credit.
